In March 1996 MK SHIPMANAGEMENT acquired a Document of Compliance (DOC) from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK); the DOC was renewed in March 2006, effective for another 5 years.

MK SHIPMANAGEMENT bases its shipmanagement operations on the ISM code and its SMS manual.

MK SHIPMANAGEMENT overseas its operations via the following committees and teams:

SHIP MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (SMC) Investigation of all shipmanagement issues as well as planning, implementation and verification of improvements.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM Activated in the event of major accidents and disasters.

SPECIAL WORKING GROUPS Specialized working groups operating under the SMC; these presently include the Collision Prevention Group and Programmed Maintenance Implementation Group.

WORKING COMMITTEE Comprehensive response committee consisting of executives and high ranked officers from the technical departments; deals with company organization and human resources.

Superintendents regularly visit their assigned vessels and conduct condition checks, crew guidance/supervision and arrange onboard maintenance work.

The Marine department is responsible for the company's quality assurance; this includes the implementation of the ISM Code, maintenance, revision and evaluation of the SMS Manual, and the conducting of internal audits. In addition, this department collates and distributes important marine information such as harbor regulations, weather and sea conditions, cargo specifics and loading/unloading requirements.
