KCIS delivers its service based on "Crew Manager", a Web-based crew information system developed by KEYMAX MARITIME and Tokyo-based system development company, IDEA Collaborations Co., Ltd. KCIS functions as a crewing operation portal between ship owners, ship managers, and KEYMAX MARITIME by providing services including (1) administrative support for superintendents of ship owners and managers, (2) filing requirements for ship managers, (3) feedback to crew, (4) crewing management and (5) crew information management. For example, superintendents of principals may view onboard crew lists or lists of candidates over the Internet, at any time, from anywhere, through KCIS. They may also browse sea service experience, assignment plans, safety training enrollment status, crew licenses together with facial portrait photos and license images of individual crew. Furthermore, using KCIS, owners and managers may send business requests or feedback to their crew, or communicate with managers. With KCIS, users will be able to access information of onboard crew and candidates from within their office or from outside their office. KCIS aims to (1) provide administrative support for superintendents of ship owners and managers who take frequent business trips, (2) to simplify feedback processing directed to KEYMAX MARITIME or to contract crew, (3) to build databases of ship owner and manager requests and feedback to be reflected in crew training programs, through filing requests, (4) to implement carefully considered features required in crewing operation, such as selection and combination of skill and experience of crew, and (5) to contribute to low-cost and safe shipping operation through sophisticated management. KCIS is an online information provider service for ship owners and managers that provides various crew information accumulated in KEYMAX MARITIME's databases, which have been specially developed for their business. KEYMAX MARITIME's database was built to streamline their crewing business process based on their crew information in order to improve efficiency and accuracy.
